Walk the beaches of Rekohu:

There are numerous beaches around Rekohu suitable for walking. Some stretch for miles and miles.  The beach above is in Waitangi, the main town on the Chathams.

From golden sands and rolling dunes to rugged cliffs the coastlines of Rekohu are a trekkers delight. Most beaches are easily accessible and covered with a variety of shells and plants.

Whether on Pitt Island or on Rekohu, there is just no shortage of beach to walk on. Beaches are public places and you can spend literally days discovering them here.

The isolation of the Chathams means that the chances are, you will be the only one on the beach too, which is rare these days. The beaches on the Chathams teem with life though. We have the rare oystercatcher, shore-plover and numerous other birds and plants which inhabit our shorelines to see.
